The Hole in the Wall

I am a BA Hospitality student from Bournemouth. As part of my course I was asked to go sample restaurants of my choice. The Hole in the Wall in Bath was my first recommendation.
Upon arrival I and two others were greeted with smiley faces. A sense of warmth, almost lost in today’s need to monopolise, emphasised by unique lighting and pretty decorations echoed around the restaurant. The service came with charm and efficiency. The food was seasonal, simple and obviously cooked with passion. The flavours saw my return to the restaurant a further four times that month. It is clear The Hole in the Wall offers a personal touch that can only be found in top 5* hotel/restaurant. The management seem to be aware that most people simply want good food with an atmosphere to match.

I love this place. The £9.95 is one of the very few bargains left in the whole city, chicken liver parfait followed by loin of pork with mash-perfect comfort food. The service is attentive and very friendly and, even though it was very busy, we were not rushed and the timing of every course was ideal.
I couldn't believe it when my husband and I polished-off three courses, a bottle of wine and a coffee each and the bill came for just £38.00!

We went here on Saturday night. Lovely atmosphere (although one room is slightly noisy due to a party of ten and we had asked for a quiet corner).
I was a little disappointed with one of the starters as my previous memories were fabulous. However, the service was friendly and not too slow and all the other food was great.
I also saw how they handled a situation with a pair of French girls who had misunderstood a main course they had ordered...The waitress didn't bat an eyelid, and just suggested she bring them two different mains - and the got these within 5 mins. I thought it was superbly handled as it wasn't her error!
Worth a visit - especially cozy at this time of year with log fires.

My wife and i stayed in Bath for a couple of nights and after seeing "The Hole in the wall " on line we decided to give it a go.We eat out frequently at home and i am in the trade of supplying the restuarant business so we would like to think we know a good and a bad meal when we have one.
We chose to have the 3 course special menu and we both chose to have Chicken Parfait with apple chutney to start, Pan fried Chicken with green pepper and chirizo potatoe salad and finished off with Apple and Blackberry cake.
The meal from start to finish was absolutaly fantastic and was cooked to perfection.
The young man who served us had a lovely manner about him and attended to our every need without giving the impression that he was just working another shift.
The only minor downside was service could of been a little bit quicker but wow was it worth waiting for !!!
Thanks for a truely great night Howard & Janette Powsey

The Hole in the Wall is a lovely romantic place! My boyfriend and I were looking for something nice and cosy but good food was a must! Bath is full of lovely restaurants but you really can't beat this place for the ambience and high quality food. Everything is locally sourced when possible and no attention to detail was spared. Staff were attentive and it was an overall very nice great meal. Definitely recommend as we hope to be back in the near future!
