The Moon & Sixpence

Was a little dissapointed with this place. Went on the recommendation of the staff at the hotel who have patronised it themselves and been impressed. The settings and ambience of the place were nice but we did not feel the level of service matched the price of the food.

We did go on a busy Saturday night but that said I do not expect to have to open my own wine and pour the first glass, to have to repeatedly ask for the bill at the end before giving up and going to the bar to pay or to encounter blocked and messy toilets. I would not mind this if dining in a cheap and cheerful pub, but when being charged about £30 per head for the food I would expect a bit more.

The food itself was very good, presented beautifully and there was an interesting array of dishes. The staff were generally pleasant but there was a feeling that there weren't enough of them or there were too many covers as we could see other diners around us being forgotten or left waiting.

Personally we wouldn't go back, but I suspect you could have a far more pleasant experience than ours.
